I am an Environmental Engineer with more than 10 years of experience in the apparel and footwear sector working on issues related to environmental sustainability. I have completed numerous environmental and social training programs and am also an approved SAC Higg FEM Chemical Specialist & General Verifier and approved ZDHC and Higg FEM Trainer.Over the course of my career, I have implemented best practices and improved sustainability performances in the supply chain by defining environmental targets in accordance with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, SAC, STWI as well as criteria issued by brands. I also worked as country coordinator for Valora, managing their sustainability projects in Italy and Turkey, and consulted one of the leading Turkish denim manufacturers as part of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. On top of this, I previously worked for Baykan Denim – the first denim apparel supplier in the world to be awarded the prestigious Nordic Swan Ecolabel and EU Ecolabel.I possesses in depth knowledge of the manufacturing and technical processes within the apparel and footwear sector, having performed numerous environmental assessments in Turkey and Italy. This includes environmental assessments in the areas of textile processes, energy, water saving, waste water, air pollution, chemical management, waste management, BATs as well as ZDHC. In addition to this, I have also conducted social compliance audits at manufacturing facilities as part of Sedex, the BSCI, and requirements set by brands in the apparel and footwear sector.
