PhD Candidate under the supervision of Prof. Anna Hirsch on the optimization of inhibitors of the anti-infective target DXS.

Designed and optimised novel synthetic routes for the synthesis of target compounds.
Synthesised over 200 target compounds on scales ranging from 10mg to several hundred miligrams.
Participated in the analysis of key biological and SAR data and was involved in the design of new target compounds.
Furthered my experience in modern synthetic and analytical methods relevant to organic chemistry (FCC, microwave synthesis, parralel synthesis, NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, SFC).
Gained experience with computational chemistry tools (Spartan, MOE, Discovery Studio, KNIME).
Introduced a hypothesis-based Design, Synthesis, Test, Analysis cycle to the project in order to increase efficiency in generating leads.
Organised an efficient and long-term system for the storage of valuable compounds synthesized within the Synthetic Organic Chemistry department.

Year in Industry at Syngenta’s Research Centre in Jealott’s Hill, UK Development of a novel herbicidal compound with complex stereochemistry. Design and development of synthetic routes of target project compounds.Extensive multi-step synthetic work carried out up to a 5L (>200g) scale. Use of microwave technology, large-scale reactors, hydrogenation reactors.Fluent in the use of analytical techniques (HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR).Fluent in the use of IT tools (Office package, Chemdraw, ELN tools).Experience in HSE audits, with several HSE recommendations made.
