About Alain Martel
After receiving his Diploma of Sciences Po Grenoble, a 3rd cycle in Economics at the University of Grenoble and a Master in Strategy-Organization at ESCP Europe, Alain Martel started his career in the financial markets. Alain has held a variety of marketing and management positions on the MATIF (Futures Market Exchange) before becoming Director of the relationship issuers listed on the Paris Stock Exchange, “Euronext”. Since the early 2000s, he has been interested in the issues of financial communication and the governance of listed companies. From 2008 to 2016, he held the position of General Secretary of IFA and its Board of Directors for a period of eight years. Within this new organization, Alain actively participated in the evolution and promotion of the principles of sound corporate governance for companies throughout France. Alain has been involved in the drafting of numerous good governance practices in many fields and for all types of organizations, including listed companies, family businesses, financial institutions, innovative companies, cooperatives, and public companies.During this period of eight years, Alain was particularly interested in questions of training and pedagogy. Within the IFA, as part of the professionalization of the boards of directors, Alain developed all the training programs in corporate governance and oversaw numerous seminars with a wide audience of non-executive directors. In 2010, he initiated and led the implementation of the first administrator certification program in partnership with Sciences Po Paris, which annually trains over a hundred participants.Since 2016, it has been assisting companies in assessing and strengthening the effectiveness of their corporate governance, as well as coaching “next generation” of family companies to always exercise their responsibilities with professionalism
