About Alaina Jaster
I have a PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology from Virginia Commonwealth University. My main focus of my dissertation was the effects of classical psychedelics on preclinical models of substance use disorder. I have worked with multiple rodent behavioral models and several cellular and molecular techniques. I have experience studying the genetic components of substance use disorders in the post-mortem brain, as well as different drug combinations, biomarkers of chronic opioid abuse and more.My goals are to continue investigating psychedelics, serotonin and other brain systems from a translational perspective to understand psychophysiology involved in disease states and develop novel treatments for SUDs and other neuropsychiatric disorders.
