While at this position, I worked with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office to obtain and dissect human brain samples. These samples were used to investigate gene networks and biomarkers of chronic opioid abuse. I also spent a lot of time analyzing toxicology reports to investigate combinations of compounds that revealed probability of drug-related deaths.I was also in charge of ordering, organization and housekeeping in the laboratory. I worked directly with my supervisor to ensure the lab had what was needed and make sure experiments were being done adequately. I also trained my replacement on all my duties before leaving the job to attend graduate school.

While at this position, I worked daily with adult inpatient psychiatric patients to ensure their health and well-being. I was in charge of taking vitals of several patients during my shift, making sure that they ate meals and that they attended groups and appointments with doctors. I was also in charge of planning, organizing and running group sessions that were focused on skill building, coping and bettering their quality of life. I sometimes also planned special activities that were meant to be something fun the patients could look forward to, such as music groups.I worked with a myriad of people with different psychiatric diagnoses and spent time talking with them everyday to assess their level of mental health. I conducted safety checks in the rooms and responded to codes at the hospital. I also had to chart on my patients throughout the day including both vitals, well-being checks and other notes. I also have experience doing patient intake.
