I am a digital communicator, social media junkie, author, public speaker, and trainer slash facilitator. I am a public service employee assigned full time to social media. I am involved in social media in all shapes and sizes and you can find my profile on most platforms (see below).I also help out small businesses and professionals with social media, communications, marketing, and branding. If you need help with social media for your small or medium sized business, please let me know. I also like to help out charitable organizations get onto social media.I became the first government employee ever to complete the Advanced Social Media Strategy Certification from HootSuite and the prestigious Newhouse School of Public Communications (Syracuse University)!I wrote the Social Media Policy and the Digital Communications Strategy for GAC and created a number of tools for the department and for the greater public sector community. I have trained hundreds of our personnel on the use of social media and have developed developed social media training modules at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I am the founder and manager of two LinkedIn groups dedicated to communicators, namely:- Government of Canada Communicators, and- Canada Public Sector Communicators I am a contributing writer for the PSLeader blog ( http://www.psleader.org/psbloggers/ )I was a featured blogger on Govloop where I am also the author of two Twitter guides for the public sector that were published on GovLoop, namely:- 15 Commandments for Government Agencies on Twitter- 12 Commandments for Government Employees on TwitterI have a long term interest in what I call "persuasion communications" which includes marketing, copywriting, brand development, etc. You can find out more by becoming a member of the Persuasion Communications group.

I have been doing social media at social media at Global Affairs Canada since the very beginning and created GAC's first social media accounts. I went on to develop the social media policy and the social media strategy for the department. I have trained hundreds of our personnel on the use of social media in an official and professional capacity. More recently, we developed social media training modules at the intermediate and advanced levels for our officers going abroad. We also do training sessions for our ambassadors on the use of social media as official representatives of Canada abroad.I regularly advise sections or programs on how to incorporate the use of social media in their activities.

I was recruited to the Technology and Innovation team of the The Leadership Network in July 2000. Our mandate was simple, to spearhead the design, development and delivery of advanced technology solutions for government use. We pioneered several technology solutions to meet the needs of departmental and interdepartmental organizations such as Regional Councils and Functional Communities. We also created one of the most advanced and widely used web site in government: leadership.gc.ca. Over 50000 static pages and even more dynamic pages, all hosted on an independent architecture. We also hosted the ADM Corporate Secretariat Web site, the ever-popular Coaching Connection web site, MyHR, and the Middle Manager’s Community Web site, and many others. In its heyday, leadership.gc.ca received 2 million hits per month with 30 000+ user sessions. We were GTEC finalists two years running.
