Dr. Alain Mermoud is the head of the Technology Monitoring (TM) team at the Cyber-Defence Campus of armasuisse Science and Technology. He earned his PhD in Information Systems from HEC Lausanne in 2019. Prior to that, he worked for five years in the banking industry as a Management Consultant and four years as a Scientific Collaborator at the Military Academy at ETH Zurich.Dr. Alain Mermoud's research interests lie at the intersection of information science, technology forecasting, emerging technologies, and (cyber) security economics. He has co-edited and published over 20 peer-reviewed scientific articles in prestigious conferences (such as the ACM Web Conference) and in high-impact factor journals, including Technology in Society, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Computers in Human Behavior, Knowledge-Based Systems, Journal of Cybersecurity, the Journal of Alternative Investments, and the Journal of Portfolio Management.Dr. Alain Mermoud served as the General Chair of the 16th International Conference on Critical Information Infrastructures Security (CRITIS 2021) held at EPFL. The conference proceedings were published in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science. He has also co-edited several other scientific books with Springer, including "Trends in Data Protection and Encryption Technologies" (2023), "Large Language Models in Cybersecurity: Threats, Exposure and Mitigation" (2024), and "Trends in Quantum Technologies and Implications for Cyberdefense" (2025).
