Some examples include:* For one of the largest offshore drilling companies in the world, streamlined the engineering, financial management, and operations management functions via a custom developed software system that tracks fleet-wide drilling activities, personnel on board, rig performance and payroll. The new system synchronizes data close to real time between rigs and regional offices globally and integrates with legacy systems to streamline access to information.* Enhanced the conceptual design a new web portal to help address the Millennium goals of the United Nations. The portal is based on a unified solution to facilitate collaboration between multiple agencies, NGOs, academic Institutions and corporations to work in partnership on projects. The portal includes a patented engine to match resources (financial and material) with opportunities (projects) and enables virtual teams to be created that can collaborate via video conference and other mechanisms.

Houston, Texas Area

Provided management and IT consulting services. Liaised with clients and oversaw major assignments to implement systems tailored to improve business efficiencies. This involved integration with legacy systems, redesigning business processes, training personnel and managing change. Developed solutions for the energy industry - primarily for offshore oil and gas drilling operations. Negotiated contracts and agreements with clients. Some key projects undertaken were:* Developed new vision, implemented a new organization structure and redesigned critical business processes for an energy company which improved the bottom line by over $90 million per year.* Assisted GlobalSantaFe Inc., one of the largest offshore drilling company in the world, to streamline their turnkey drilling, engineering, financial management, and operations management functions via integrated information systems. This project is of key strategic importance and is envision by the Board of Directors to significantly increase their competitive advantage and increase profitability of their $500 million turnkey business. Doubled bid generation for oil and gas drilling wells and simutaneously streamlined well engineering, financial management and operations management functions to increase productivity.* Evaluated 64 gas processing plants and central corporate operations of a large gas company in order to identify performance gaps and to benchmark major business processes against best industry practices. Major operational and management shortcomings were identified and addressed to help improve performance and streamline some of the key processes. This resulted in annual cost saving exceeding US$ 35 million per year.

Practice leader in assessing corporate management systems. Conducted due diligence, risk assessments, management reviews and competitive benchmarking. Frequently lectured in management seminars. Some of the key projects undertaken were:* Conducted the due diligence for divestment of the Polysar Division operating 11 polymer and rubber manufacturing complexes. The division was successfully sold for $2 billion.* Started and administered the industry roundtable on “Enterprise Wide Environmental, Health, and Safety Information Management." BASF later reorganized it into an EHS-SDG forum, which helped established many of the ASTM environmental standards.* Reviewed the overall EH&S and risk information management systems for a large chemical company in Canada to help it meet top quartile performance compared to the chemical industry - including meeting the Responsible Care Code of Practice.* Helped turnaround of a $2 billion global chemicals company by reviewing critical functions and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance business processes and management practices.* Assited to downsize corporate offices of a $2.5 billion food company by over 20 percent.* Conducted a management systems assessment for Warner-Lambert at multiple research and development laboratories and production lines.* For a large marine shipping company, conducted a management system assessment of cargo ship loading/unloading operations, on-board health and safety programs, and emergency planning/crisis management systems . * For the GATX Terminals Company, conducted a detailed management systems assessment at the largest bulk oil/chemical storage facility in the US.* Conducted an environmental risk assessment for the largest sulfur plant in North America and well as pipelines transporting gas through the Canadian Rocky Mountains.* Evaluated a computer-based regulatory compliance management system that is currently used in over 300 plants worldwide.

Responsible for the engineering and coordination of multiple turnkey design and construction projects including contract negotiations, budgeting, cost control for projects in North America, South America, North Africa, and India. These projects were up to $150 million, and included joint venture deals with Japanese and German companies. Was responsible for over 30 international projects. These projects included gas and oil processing facilities, water treatment facilities, power plants, storage facilities, pipelines and chemical plants. Gas plants included gas treating, cryogenic turbo-expander plants, helium recovery units, nitrogen rejection units and compression facilities.

Participated in the design of 17 offshore production platforms (including the $2 bIllion Marjan/Zuluf platforms for Aramco) as well as several gas processing and cogeneration plants.Developed the first AI system to automate the design of offshore production plants using a process simulator linked to a symbolics computer running Lisp language and an inference engine. Could generate a preliminary design in a few hours saving six weeks of engineering time.

Reported to VPs of Trentham and Graff corportations. Was responsible for designing turnkey gas processing units such as amine treating units, sulfur recovery units and turbo-expander hydrocarbon recovery plants.

Management Audit Program

Developed curriculum on Management Auditing that was adopted by the London School of Economics. Subsequently trained over 120.
