My interest in neurodegenerative disease research arises from my experiences at the Telias Lab and REGENXBIO Inc. My work at the Telias Lab has promoted my understanding of various biomedical assays which are utilized to develop the understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind diseases characterized by photoreceptor degeneration. This academic research approach has driven to me seek opportunities in biotechnology, and at REGENXBIO Inc, I have conducted various in vitro/in vivo assays to test the efficacy of AAV-therapeutics in models of dry age-related macular degeneration. This experience has promoted my understanding of drug discovery and drives me to seek further opportunities in biotechnology. Additionally, as a prospective graduate student, I aim to bridge the perspective differences between academic and industry research in my graduate work by seeking out opportunities for collaboration between biotechnology companies and academic institutions. Moreover, I aim to pursue a career which will integrate such perspectives and tackle neurodegenerative disease with a translational approach. I welcome any and all opportunities which will promote me in achieving my professional goals, specifically positions regarding drug design research in the biotechnology sector.

Clinical Research AssistantUniversity Of Rochester Medical Center Sep 2021 - Apr 2022Rochester, New York, United StatesResearch mentorship under Dr. Po-Ju Lin at the PEAK Lab alongside undergraduate coursework. This study is a Phase III Clinical Trial which explores the effects of YOCAS yoga and cognitive behavioral therapy on cancer survivors who suffer with insomnia. This study utilizes actigraphy data to analyze the movement and sleep patterns of cancer survivors over the span of 24 weeks. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantThe Smith Institute For Urology May 2021 - Sep 2021New Hyde Park, New York, United StatesResearch mentorship under Dr. Manish Vira. Student Research AssistantNorth Shore University Hospital Jun 2019 - 2020New Hyde Park, New YorkResearch mentorship under Dr. David Mikhail, Dr. Arun Rai, and Dr. Arthur Smith.Manuscript titled “Novel Irrigation Protocol for Renal Pelvis Sterilization during PCNL: A Pilot Study” accepted and to be published to the Journal of Endourology.Explores a novel approach to improving kidney stone collecting system sterility during PCNL and compares with initial post-operative outcomes. Patient data collected consists of demographics, medical history, and stone characteristic including location and size for n = 56 patients. Results illustrate that the new technique for renal pelvis sterilization allows ease of access to renal pelvis and will results in less infectious complication is patients undergoing PCNL. -
Research InternNew York University Jun 2018 - 2019New York, New YorkResearch mentorship under Dr. Paul Krebs. Explores the effect of mHealth applications on glycemic control in people with diabetes. Patient data collected consists of demographic and surveyed data for n = 105 patients at the Diabetic Foot and Ankle Center in New York City. Results indicate that text message-based control should be integrated into the mHealth system, specifically for the older population. Additionally, applications must target the Android platform to reach a larger number of people. Overall, the presence of mHealth will greatly aid patients with diabetes in glycemic control.
