Building and Infrastructure Team at Tobin Consulting EngineersRole & Responsibilities:- Working as part of the Building and Infrastructure design team on various building and infrastructure projects in Ireland and UK- Carrying out a range of design tasks on civil/building projects as part of a design team to set deadlinesfrom preliminary design to project completion.- Preparing and submitting planning documentation for various civil/building projects.- Preparing tender/construction drawings and specifications for various civil/building projects.- Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders through a projects construction lifecycle to achieve predefined goals, clarify queries, rectify any potential issues, review information and ensure a project is efficiently delivered.- Preparing and submitting fire safety and disability access certificate applications.- Carrying out regular site and residential building inspections nationwide (e.g. BCAR, etc). - Drafting residential building survey reports to assess compliance with current building regulations.- Perform resident engineer role on some projects nationwide.- Conducting project management tasks in an organised and clear manner throughout a project’s lifecycle including organising project meetings, efficiently communicating issues, filing and uploading BCAR Control documentation, completing QMS documentation and processing payment certificates- Liaising with the internal Tobin engineering team to address design or construction issues on a continuous basis.

Work as part of the Drilling and Wells engineering services team at Wood Group Kenny (WGK) Ireland.Engineering tasks include:-Design/build finite element (FE) models of offshore marine drilling riser systems based on client requirements. -Assess analysis input data required to construct a FE model at each project kick-off. In certain cases, a requirement to travel to client offices to source data is necessary. -Perform structural FE analysis using in-house WGK engineering software (i.e DeepRiser & Flexcom) for an extensive range of required engineering scopes (e.g determine offshore drilling vessel operability envelopes, establish safe/unsafe vessel disconnect environmental conditions, calculation of riser/wellhead/subsea well architecture fatigue damage for a offshore drilling campaign) -Draft conclusions based on structural FE analysis and highlighting necessary obstacles, if applicable, to the client prior to on-set of the drilling campaign.-Aid to deliver detailed structural analysis technical notes/reports for a client as part of an engineering team. -Ensure quality management system documentation is updated continually during a projects duration.-Liaise with the extended WGK engineering services team on certain offshore engineering projects such as structural wellhead drilling templates and flexible production riser scopes.

PhD/Masters Research Student in the field of Life Cycle Assessment and Energy Analysis of Irish Buildings. Assessing buildings energy consumption from both an operational and embodied perspective and quantifying subsequent carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. Helping to develop a building assessment model capable of accounting for a buildings life cycle energy and carbon, hence aiding designers and developers make construction decisions based on life cycle impact.Other activities involve supervision of undergraduate engineering design laboratories, delivering national school engineering workshops and providing Buildsoft training to Project management students.
