Senior Software EngineerHoneywell Aerospace 2010 - PresentCharlotte, North Carolina, UsResponsible as a team member in the Flight Management Systems (FMS) Integration Team.• Build Infrastructure lead: Led the effort to produce significant productivity savings for multiple aerospace departments by providing standardized development environment server farm which expanded to five aerospace engineering departments. Organized, classified and managed the implementation on over 900 PCs in the server farm to support the engineering development. Developed configuration tooling to check each installed tool on each PC hourly for any failures in configuration that for department staff to correct. By providing remote standardized, working PCs over the Honeywell internal network for 1,500 engineers to use, the engineers could focus on development activities instead of installing, updating and checking software tools.Prototyped a virtual cloud of development and build PCs using VMWARE tools. This effort convinced the Honeywell Aerospace management to make a major investment in virtualization of 600 development PCs as a key part of the Software Productivity System initiative.• Build Integration member: Integrated FMS software for multiple aircraft programs: Airbus, Boeing, MD, Dassault, Embraer, and others. Developed tools to check engineering builds to identify errors and verify that they are complete. -
Senior Embedded Software EngineerHoneywell Aerospace 2005 - 2010Charlotte, North Carolina, UsResponsible as a team lead in the development of the Boeing 787 Flight Controls Module (FCM).• FCM Integration Build team lead: Led the 787 FCM build team to integrate 1.8 million SLOCs of FCM software (as compared to 330K SLOCs of FMS software) on a weekly or daily basis. Led the development of enhancements to the build process that integrates MATLAB models, hand-code and Data Dictionary I/O software in a Green Hills Software environment with an array of 12 build PCs. Developed GHS installers for the FCM and MCP. Planned process improvements and developed process documentation. Coordinated a build team of up to 4 domestic engineers and 3 HTSL engineers in Bangalore to support the FCM mainline software integration. Planned the tool enhancements to ensure build integrity for certification and enable off-shore builds by the HTSL team in India.• Primary Flight (PF) partition team lead: Developed the build-by-SCR process for partition-level builds of the 787 FCM. This build process integrated model and hand-code software in the Green Hills Environment with the Data Dictionary global memory software. Coordinated a team of up to nine PF builders to support the PF partition mainline integration.• Area Health Manager (AHM) partition team lead: Responsible for the requirements, software architecture, design and code development of embedded, real-time, inter-partition I/O of the AHM partition. Developed the software architecture of the interfaces for the OMS/FTS/ARINC 664, ARINC 653, ARINC 429 and P2P protocols. Co-led and trained a team of 8 software engineers from the Czech Republic. Developed and delivered technical presentations to our Boeing Customers. -
Senior Software EngineerKutta Consulting (Now Belcan) 2004 - 2005Responsible for consulting on embedded avionics performance and navigation software for the Honeywell EPIC flight management computer [C, Visual C++].
-
Systems EngineerAg Communication Systems (Now Alcatel/Lucent) 1995 - 2003Responsible for performing all phases of the software development cycle including project planning, configuration management, software development, documentation, testing and customer support in a self-directed team environment. The Network Element Data Administration System (NEDAS) software project developed skills in Informix databases and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI).
-
Senior Project EngineerHoneywell Aerospace 1987 - 1995Charlotte, North Carolina, UsDeveloped real-time, redundant, embedded software which included problem analysis / correction, design, code development, documentation, verification and customer interface for the Boeing Flight Management System Project. Group leader in the Performance and Aero/Engine Models software groups. Worked with the ARINC 429/629 and DO-178B standards with an AIMS VME bus architecture.• Developed software tools to increase efficiency (40x) and reduce team workload by automating the Boeing 777 Aero/Engine Model Database design process. [Ada]• Developed Ada system interface libraries for text and sequential file Input/Output to enable the Boeing 777 project group to develop tools to verify software quality. [Ada]• Developed flight performance and Aero/Engine software for the Boeing 777. [Ada]• Developed the flight planning and Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) software (including heartbeat monitors, memory tests and processor tests) for the Boeing Multipurpose Control Display Unit (MCDU). [Pascal]• Developed redundant Master/Slave synchronization logic to synchronize the performance computations between the flight management computers. [Pascal]• Co-led the Boeing 757/767 Metrics Quality Improvement Team to measure software quality and reduce the software reset rate by 20 times to improve customer satisfaction. [Pascal]• Directed a team of five engineers/programmers to complete the fix package for the Boeing 747 performance software to improve customer satisfaction. [Pascal] -
Research ScientistBattelle Pacific Nw Nat Lab 1979 - 1987Responsible for developing computer simulations, high-resolution color graphical imaging interfaces and scientific databases. Held a DOE “L” security clearance.• Developed high-resolution color graphics software to display three-dimensional images of Synthetic Aperture Focused (SAF) ultrasonic scans of cracks and flaws in piping and pressure vessels to enhance nuclear reactor safety and delay costly downtime. [C, Fortran]• Developed graphical displays and software models for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to enable state and local officials to rapidly plan safe evacuations during emergency situations. [C, Fortran]• Aided in development of a computer simulation to estimate the effects of nuclear accidents on the environment to aid the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in estimating reactor safety. [Fortran]• Developed an international sorption data base for the Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris, France to analyze the adsorption of radionuclides in geochemical environments. [Fortran]• Developed a statistical computer model of the probable effects of long-term burial of nuclear waste. [Fortran]
