I am an experienced power plant operator with 30 years in the generation industry. I have 10 years of nuclear power plant operation at the ComEd, Zion Generating Station. My duties there included equipment monitoring, 4KV electrical switching, sub-station operations. Zion was converted to synchronous condenser operation in 1999 for grid voltage controlI have another 17 years with Wisconsin Public Service at the J.P. Pulliam generating station, subsidiary of Wisconsin Electric, as a Senior Control Operator. My previous job included good communication skills with three way communication, attention to detail and a good understanding of lock out/tag out procedures. I have done procedure review/creation and m-print walk down for the new Weston 4 station. Also as a Senior Control Operator, I was responsible for overseeing the day to day work of the field operators and monitoring of the control room operators. I was also responsible for the local operation of Pulliam 31, a simple cycle GE-6E gas turbine that produces ~80MW. I was also a team member on the DCS controls system upgrade to units 7&8 at the J.P. Pulliam plant, converting from Honeywell DCS to Honeywell Experion controls system. I also volunteered to work on the emission controls upgrade to units 7&8 installing Calcium Bromide and Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) injection for mercury control and Dry-Sorbent Injection (DSI) for SOx reduction.I also worked at the Killen Generating Station in Manchester, OH as a Shift Supervisor overseeing the day to day operations with a crew of 9. Killen station is a 650MWe coal fired power plant with an SCR to reduce NOx and a JBR to reduce SO2. The station also has an older 5MWe GE fuel oil fired gas turbine. I started here in September of 2016 and the company and DP&L announced plant is closing.I also worked for the Wisconsin Women’s Correctional System / Taycheedah Correctional Institution as a Power Plant Operator Senior. I am responsible for the prison’s steam heating system from October thru May. I am also responsible for maintains the 3 package boilers in the summer months, including the campus heating repairs. I am also responsible for the kitchen service steam load throughout the year. This includes steam kettles, dishwashers and hot water for the kitchen. Taycheedah houses >900 inmates.I am currently in training to become a Control Operator at NextEra Energy, Point Beach Nuclear Station. A 2 unit Pressurized Water Reactor station producing 650 MW each.
