As a Business Analyst I am responsible for investigating operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes. The role also has the responsibility to assist in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, identifying options for consideration, recommending new approaches and the quantification of potential business benefits.In addition to the duties of my role, I am regularly engaged as a tactical technologist. In this capacity I am tasked with solving time critical business problems in order to efficiently achieve corporate objectives within required time frames.

Government Financial Systems Branch is responsible for the management, development, support and operations of the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) which is used to facilitate the Government’s budget, financial reporting and cash management processes. As a member of the Business Support Team, I played an integral role in providing support to CBMS users and Finance business areas by: - Providing timely and accurate assistance and technical advice to users on CBMS issues;- Assisting with the resolution of functional issues associated with the system by working with key CBMS stakeholders including Finance staff, agency staff, and developers; and- As part of the release management process, participated in CBMS user acceptance testing and testing of data integrity.In addition to the duties of my role, I was a driving force behind a number of process improvements and instrumental in developing innovative data analysis and training management capabilities.

The Australian Government invests some $6 billion each year in ICT. The Government needs to ensure that this investment represents value for money. The branch supports the Government budget process by reviewing ICT-enabled proposals and providing advice as required.My role was to assist with the administration of the ICT Business as Usual Reinvestment Fund and to develop innovative ICT Solutions to support business throughout the ICT Two Pass Review Process.

The Australian Government Architecture (AGA) practice was established in 2007. I contributed through engagements with agencies and other jurisdictions to support the take-up of the AGA and supported the development of candidate artefacts and examples of better practice.
