CurrentCommtronix provides consultancy, design, installation and commissioning services for the Broadcast and Telecomms industry. The company was established in December 2008 following VR from Arqiva as a result of the merger/acquisition of National Grid Wireless (NGW). We provide cost efficient and professional services for the broadcast and telecomms industries, specialising in telemetry, network management, data, baseband, audio/video and RF, as well as general implementation and build for the industry, including rack build and wiring resources, fibre optic installation/termination, microwave transmission and much more.Commtronix played our part in the UK-wide Digital Switchover (DSO) project with many moves and rebuilds of FM, DAB, analogue and digital TV transmitters and associated equipment to accommodate the new high powered DTTV systems, including decommissioning and disposal of many EOL analogue transmitters. Post DSO we played our part in the HD rollout of Com 7 and 8 muxes in the 600MHz spectrum, including local TV and then the expansion of BBC and Commercial DAB with hundreds of new transmitters sites brought online around the country. Since 2015 we've been technical lead for one of the OFCOM Small Scale DAB (SSDAB) trials, pushing the boundaries of the open source software, developing a range of codecs, and bringing DAB+, Slideshow, Dynamic DLS and many other features to reality. Somewhere along the way we've also built and implemented conventional FM and AM community and commercial broadcast transmission systems!
