I was the site Asset Management System lead for HMNB Clyde. This role demanded significant Defence, Infra and Asset Management experience which I had gained over the last 35 years to ensure success in the development and implementation of this major change / improvement programme.

I was the Service Manager for HMNB Clyde which includes the Faslane and Coulport sites. Primary responsibilities include the management of the site maintenance activities carried out by the Industry Partner (IP), Programme Management of the injected works programme (Nuclear and Non Nuclear) and performance management of the IP. Management of the Infrastructure budget and responsibility for the provision of safe working environment through the delegated ownership of several site Authorised Conditions relating to Nuclear Infrastructure. I am currently working on the provision of an improved Through Life Management Plan through the integration of an effective IEMP and asset categorisation methodology. This work is in support of the forthcoming renewal of the prime contract.

Defence Munitions Bicester Oxfordshire

This role had management responsibility for the establishment and implementation of departmental policy on FM, Risk and BC, H&S, Quality and Environmental Management. I was responsible for ensuring that the estate is safe and compliant with MoD and legal requirements. The Estate covered 12 sites in the UK and Germany with activities including, routine storage, transportation, explosive storage and weapons processing. Ageing Infrastructure, limited funding and critical delivery schedules in support of military operations made the delivery of a compliant estate particularly challenging. Regular interaction with other Government departments, Internal and External auditing authorities and Defence Estates were a large part of this role to ensure appropriate funding is available and site KPI’s are met.March 2011 saw this role change through the separation of the Defence Munitions sites from the previous Joint Support Chain Services organisation. I retained responsibility for the establishment and implementation of departmental policy on FM, Risk and BC, H&S, Training, Quality and Environmental Management for the munitions sites. The Estate under my control covered 8 explosive storage and processing sites in the UK and Germany. .

As General Manager I was responsible for the implementation of HO policy and the management of all support activities on site. Close liaison with Defence Estates and multiple contractors is a daily activity to ensure the safety of all site personnel. Tasks include the management of the site Contractor Control policy, Risk Assurance, Business Continuity Planning, Health and Safety audits and investigations, Quality Audit and provision of advice as well Security and general administration services. The site covers approximately 1000 acres, with 200 buildings and 350 personnel.
