Developing materials for the next generation of solar panels.

My PhD focuses on the development of new, more efficient solar panels which could revolutionise the renewable energy industry. I was a Winton Scholar for Sustainability and an Oppenheimer Scholar for colloidal science, with my research using spectroscopy to optimise halide perovskite materials. I revealed tandem halide perovskite solar cells are much easier to fabricate than had been previously understood. For my PhD I was a member of both the Optoelectronics and Theory of Condensed Matter groups in the University of Cambridge's Physics department.

I founded and conducted an orchestra in Cambridge, the Falcon Ensemble. We performed several concerts a year across Cambridge and the surrounding area.

Ensembles that I have conducted include the Falcon Ensemble, Cambridge University String Ensemble, three Cambridge University College Orchestras, University of Cambridge Concert Band, The National School's Symphony Orchestra, Cambridge University Chinese Orchestra, Cambridge University Gilbert and Sullivan Society and several ensembles for one off events.I received conducting tuition from Hilary Davan Wetton, Peter Stark and Jason Thornton.

Assisting with the smooth running of different departments of the Academy of Ancient Music as required.

Working in the Projects and Administration Department at the Academy of Ancient Music. I made the first full discography for the Academy, including over 250 separate CDs (see below). My day to day tasks included helping to coordinate players to assisting the Marketing team.

Weekly co-presenter of The Classical Hour on local radio station - a programme I co-founded. Regular interviews with top level musicians who were performing across Cambridge.

Awarded an academic scholarship at my college (Gonville and Caius) for three years running.

Co-founded the Cambridge University String Ensemble, the only university string orchestra in Cambridge. Regular concerts throughout the year.

We ensure the well being of all children on National Children's Orchestra courses, both socially and health wise. Also, keeping them busy with activities outside rehearsals is important.

Oban

Studied the possibility of using seaweed as a biofuel. There is not much free space on land but the oceans are mostly unused so this is an excellent route to solving some of the world's energy problems. Specifically studied how to ensure that seaweed is grown only in areas where it will not be removed by storms.

President of Cambridge University's largest orchestra for two years. Instigated its first concerts outside Cambridge in recent memory.

Indonesia

Spent a month in a rainforest in Indonesia assisting with scientific investigations into various animals, including macaques and bats. Experienced scientific endeavour in a challenging environment where working with local people is hugely important.
