Alan Briskin has been working in technology since January of 1959. Beginning his career in the IBM mid-range area, he has worked for Simon & Schuster and Forbes Magazine. In 1976, he began his own consulting firm, Basic Systems Functions.His latest position was with The CIT Group, a world renowned financial services company. As Vice President of Systems and Technology, and later as Chief Information Officer, Alan was responsible for managing and directing a group of professional technologists supporting one of the eight business units of CIT. He was also responsible for company-wide training of CIT’s Credit Finance Unit.In 1971, Alan served a two-year term as President of Guidance International, a NYC based non-profit IBM users’ group. He was elected to a second two-year term in 1990. His responsibilities included arranging for guest speakers, conducting monthly meetings, and scheduling educational forums.Alan was a Volunteer Instructor for SeniorNet, an organization devoted to teaching seniors how to use Personal Computers, and was a volunteer for SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) providing client counseling and technology support.Additionally, Alan was active in Junior Achievement and was a mentor for the South Bronx Educational Organization.In 2003, Alan was a recipient of the JCC Menorah Award for his outstanding services to the senior community from The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island for his involvement with SeniorNet.Retired from the CIT Group in 2005.
