Houston Technology Group was founded in 1986 and employs about 35 people in 3 divisions:1. Houston Technology, the MSP arm of the business.2. Houston Productivity, the software division that focusses on automation technologies such as AI/ML, RPA, BI and customised software development.3. Houston-M9, a joint venture between Houston and a large enterprise software development group in Malaysia.

I started Houston Medical in 1990 to fill a market vacuum for doctors, specialists and other health practitioners who had wanted an easy to use practice management package. Launched by Hon Simon Upton (then Minister of Health in the Bolger government) Houston Medical quickly became one of the largest-selling medical practice management programs in NZ. The package became very popular with many specialists and I took the program to Hong Kong where it was implemented at the largest ophthalmology clinic there. In 1998 I decided to focus on the fast-growing mothership, HTG (Houston Technology Group) and therefore sold my interests in the software company. However, my interest in the medical sector continues to this day and I still attend medical conferences to give talks on technology. In 2016, Houston Medical was purchased by Best Practice Software Pty Ltd of Australia but the NZ business continues to operate out of Hamilton.

Houston Productivity is a subsidiary of 35-year-old Houston Technology Group. We focus on helping clients to improve productivity by tapping into disruptive as well as current technologies like RPA (Robotic Process Automation), AI, BI, customised programming, mobile apps, QR codes, doc management, instant messaging, etc.

WEL Energy Trust (the Trust) was formed in 1993 for the purpose of holding shares in the newly created WEL Energy Group. I was first elected in 2020 and again in 2023 when I was the highest polling candidate in a field of 28.
