Alan Cornford has senior management experience in business, academia and each of the three levels of government – Municipal, Provincial and Federal – principally involving the conduct and management of science research, S&T policy development, technology transfer, innovation and startup company development. Alan has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and has served as the Canadian representative to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the Regional Oceanographer at the Institute of Ocean Sciences prior to becoming Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Technology for the Province of British Columbia. He then served as President and CEO of SF Univentures Corporation and Director of the Simon Fraser University Industry Liaison Office prior to returning to the private sector to initiate technology startups while also undertaking research and consulting on innovation and commercialization for most of the Canadian provinces and many federal government departments. He is currently mentoring startups and developing a new venture that applies process knowledge to guide entrepreneurs in structuring, building and monitoring enterprise value throughout the entire lifecycle of new ventures.
