I am involved in projects that are within the CP5 Framework package I am currently working on a £6 deck replacement, including steel repairs, grit blasting. painting, masonry repairs and scour works. I worked on the Saltcoats Seawall a £6m project to prevent overtopping onto the railway. These involve the placing of Precast Wave Wall Units, placing Rock Armour on beach head, repairs to existing Sea Wall and forming of a new concrete access road, I have also been involved in the replacement of bridges, culverts, bridge and tunnel repair works. I am responsible for monitoring all aspects of H&S on-site, procurement, managing plant and labour, organising and arranging sub-contractors for works Plant, material and labour returns, ongoing quality recording, producing and reviewing CPP’s WPP’s/TB’s, risk assessments and updating where appropriate.

I was responsible for the setting up and management of sites across Scotland to enable security upgrades on Scottish Water estates. These included alarms, locks, door, window grilles, fencing and cctv. I managed all areas of health and safety, monitoring and recording of on going works and ensured works were being carried out to specification and within program.

New Cumnock

I worked on a new 275,000kv Sub Station in New Cumnock. Our works included the formation of all Equipment Bases, Fence Line Bases, Drainage both Plastic and Ductile Iron, Earthing and Troughing. I was responsible for the day to day running of the works working closely with the other Site Agent ensuring all works were being carried out safely and proficiently. I was responsible for managing Quality Control ensuring all Inspection Test Plans were kept up to date, Weekly Returns, Plant Returns, Labour Returns, Daily Allocation Sheets, produce RA/MS and worked closely with the client carrying out inspections and signing off as works progressed.

I worked on a £1.8 million project laying a rising main. It varied in diameter from 800mm to 900mm. I was responsible for managing all plant and labour then coordinating resources accordingly. I issued all permits for on going works and recorded progress.

I worked on the £390million Borders Rail Project. During the initial GI works I was responsible for health and safety on site, doing inductions and dealing with contractors After this and the project progressed I worked within a team ensuring completion of works, supervising concreting, Kerbing, Drainage and Major Earthworks. I assessed activities for Labour, and plant resources to maintain the safe and efficient progress of works. I liaised with Engineers, Ecologists and Network Rail ensuring work was carried out safely, correctly and to legislation. I compiled detailed reports for on going works, managed all section Plant and Labour resources ensuring work was carried out safely.

I was responsible for the day to day running of various projects. I ensured the efficient use of operatives and plant. I was also responsible for the welfare and Health and Safety of our operatives on site. I liaised with the main contractors, and at all times ensured a good line of communication and that a healthy working relationship was maintained at all times. The usual administrative duties were also involved. I supervised on a £1.8 million residential project in Larkhall, foundation works for UWS new accommodation block in Paisley with Grahams, construction and civil works for Elliot Hire’s new premises in Livingston, foundation and drainage works for a new community hub in Aviemore for Grahams, foundation and civil works for new Aeronautical College in Ayr for Barr Construction and car park upgrades at Sainsbury’s in East Kilbride for Barr Construction

I started off as a ground worker for this company, a small family run house building business and progressed through the company to eventually being involved with managing all aspects of the build. From planning to completion I dealt with our own Operatives, Tradesmen, Sub-Contractors, Building Control, Architects, Engineers and Clients. I prepared method statements and risk assessments and was responsible for all Health and Safety control measures on site. I worked on house projects from as little as £30,000 to over £1.2 million ensuring they were finished on time, within budget and to the high standard expected.
