I’ve spent over 40 years dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and helping communities protect the places and stories that matter most to them. My journey began with a BS in Geology, a master’s in Anthropology (Archaeology), and a Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology, which shaped my passion for historic preservation. My career has taken me across the country, from working as a Senior Archaeologist in Illinois to advocating for preservation at the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. For 27 years, I proudly served as the Department Director and Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Navajo Nation, leading efforts to protect sacred sites and cultural resources. In Hawaii, I led the State Historic Preservation Division for 11 years, ensuring that the state’s rich heritage was safeguarded for future generations. For 30 years, I also taught at the Falmouth Institute, sharing practical strategies to help tribes protect their historic and cultural sites and repatriate human remains and cultural items. Today, I’m honored to serve as the Head Archaeologist at AEPAC, where I focus on advancing historic preservation projects and supporting meaningful connections to the past.If you’re passionate about cultural heritage or looking to collaborate on preservation efforts, let’s connect!
