Within my current role as a prep co-ordinator I am accountable for every aspect of the day to day running of the department. I am constantly working with other departments within the business to provide a fast and accurate service to the production team working with them on specific ingredient issues they may have to try and improve productivityI work tirelessly with the technical team trying to drive and improve our GMP and hygiene standards within the department. I’ve worked at building a team within the department, identifying the appropriate training needed to the teams, interviewing new staff and developing existing agency workers and integrating them into the Greencore team. I have introduced and developed working practices for many new pieces of equipment that have been brought to site to improve the department’s performance. I also deal with visitors when they come to site, showing them round the department and explain through the processes we use.

For two years I ran a production hall on a daily basis and could run either production hall if needed. I was accountable for delivering a quality product to the customer in a safe and timely manner to achieve tight deadlines and adhere to strict waste targets. I looked after the safe working environment of 160 people including line controllers and line operatives, machine operatives and depositor operators. I was also accountable for the daily KPI information for the senior management team, reporting asset faults to the engineering team, and attending waste meetings reporting the shifts waste performances. I also dealt directly with our customers and suppliers on a regular basis weather that is on site or going to their sites and representing the company.

I started my career at Greencore as a Line Controller. Having never worked in the food manufacturing industry previously I was keen to learn and took on board all the training and help there was on offer to me. I was the first line controller to go through the new training pack giving me an insight into how the business worked as a whole through all departments. This gave me the foundations I needed to start my journey through the company. After I had been running a line for around 6 months I wanted to start to progress so I trained to run the varying line formats in the factory as well as most machines within the production hall. From this I then started running two lines on a regular basis.

This establishment is a busy bar, restaurant and function venue where I was the assistant manager. I was responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the venue including staff, rotas, stock, cashing up, communicating between parties to organise functions, etc. I was also responsible for the front of house during all functions, catering for all of the weddings, dinner dances etc and guiding staff and making sure the events ran smoothly and to the highest standards expected. I was the direct point of contact between the customer, manager and chef.

I started this job with no previous experience in this industry but during the year worked my way up, passing all the relevant estate agency exams. I was responsible for guiding buyers through the stressful house buying process from start to finish. This enabled me to improve my customer service skills and organizational skills by having to work to tight deadlines under some stressful conditions.

I was assistant manager of this busy Hotel and Restaurant. It involved being responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the hotel.
