In 1992, Florence left an indelible mark on me during my study abroad semester. Despite pursuing a career in science and engineering back in the US, the allure of Italy persisted. After enduring personal hardship in 2000, I resolved to make my dream of directing study abroad programs in Italy a reality. Armed with a second Master's degree in Italian literature, I ventured back to Italy, taking on odd jobs and pursuing every opportunity that arose. Nothing panned out and I was ready to throw in the towel.Then, fate intervened on July 4, 2005, at the Leonardo da Vinci Italian Language School, where I met a captivating young woman from Ecuador, vacationing in Italy while pursuing her degree in New York City. Our connection was instant, and soon we were inseparable. I followed her to NYC, where we married the following year. In 2007, an opportunity emerged in Florence—a ten-month contract position as an academic coordinator with a prestigious US university. With my wife possessing Italian citizenship, the dream job was finally within reach. We relocated to Florence and later spent two enriching years in Sicily, where our son was born. My career flourished as I worked for esteemed study abroad programs, eventually landing the role of director of Georgetown University's study abroad program in Italy in 2010. With my mission accomplished, my focus shifted towards leadership and self-improvement as a manager.Now, I am dedicated to helping higher education managers master their leadership skills, driven by the same passion and enthusiasm that guided me on my journey.
