Ensuring that activities are performed in accordance with relevant risk management, health, safety, environmental, quality assurance, legislation and customer (and contractual) requirements.

• Leading and directing the creation and subsequent management of OHS solutions in line with business strategy; playing a pivotal role in liaising with key business representatives, overseeing the management of workers compensation and injury management functions• Undertaking, analysing and interpreting research, developing and implementing OHS and injury management policies, Delivering recommendations and solutions including corrective and preventative measures, organisational facility inspections and enforcing state and federal legislative requirements• Leading and directing regional OHS and injury management teams, educating and guiding the team to achieve results without compromising standards• Fundamentally responsible for overseeing the tender process for renewal of workers compensation policies, devising, producing and presenting statistical reports to the executive and board of directors, preparing and communicating integration for new business ventures

• Instrumental accountability for the development and implementation of site specific action plans, orchestrated and facilitated training and educational development to support risk management initiatives• Supported the OHS manager advise on meaningful and measurable key safety indicators for site managers and supervisors in accordance with national strategy• Responsible for the implementation of actions to notify, investigated and documented all incidents and accidents, enforced corrective actions to prevent future occurrences• Devised and drafted an outline for national OHS induction for all managers, ensured sites have trained operational safety committees/ representatives in place • Prepared and distributed key OHS reports including monthly reports, audits and site self-assessments

• Sole responsibility for the provision of health and safety advice across the company and external contractors, ensured legal compliance and adherence of all construction work on sites, trained and educated new and existing employees • Additionally accepted duties as environmental manager in their absence, liaised with regulatory authorities as required• Successfully maintained ISO/9001/14001 & OHSAS 18001 certification for the mill and acquired certification for other business units• Undertook accident investigations and prepared accident data for the mill, Smurfit Kappa Paper UK, Smurfit Kappa European Paper Division, CPI and HSE, collated and submitted relevant documentation to insurers in the event of a personal injury claims for both Townsend Hook and SSK• Acted as a key interface for the group; represented Smurfit Kappa at the south east mills safety advisors group

• Promoted and raised the profile of safety in the mill, delivered safety training and undertook risk assessments and safety audits• Took a leading role, as first point of contact for the group, at National Health and Safety Committee meetings
