Awarded a JILA Fellowship to undertake research in collaboration with Professor David Nesbitt on high-resolution infrared overtone spectroscopy of molecular clusters via Nd:YAG/dye laser difference frequency generation and employing supersonic expansions with slit nozzles.

Awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and German Research Foundation Fellowships for research at the Institute for Physical Chemistry at TU Munich. Conducted research with Professor Edward Schlag's group on laser-desorption-laser-ionization mass spectrometry (Professor Grotemeyer) and Doppler-free laser-induced fluorescence spectrometry (Professor Neusser and Dr Riedel)

Awarded The Melbourne University Research Fellowship for research in Picosecond Spectroscopy, collaborating with Professor G. Wilse Robinson. Areas of investigation included ultrafast relaxation processes of organic molecules.

Research in Chemical Physics collaborating with Professor Charles Parmenter. Areas of investigation included molecular spectroscopy, intermolecular and intramolecular vibrational and electronic relaxation processes. Technological innovations included construction and development of spectrometer and laser instrumentation, vacuum and optical systems, electronic detection and amplification systems

Presentation of lecture courses (senior undergraduate and honours) in Spectroscopy and Quantum Theory. Experimental research in collaboration with Professor Ian Ross and Professor Ben Selinger in the areas of time resolved spectroscopy and collision induced vibrational relaxation processes.
