About Alan Madin

Prior to counselling, I had an extensive RAF career during which I studied education and training. This led to a further career across a range of teaching roles; working with learners across all age ranges and in a range of settings, including Primary school to FE College, PRU and Offender Learning Estate. I also became a Training Manager within a Counsellor training C.I.C; where I was able to use my extensive education and training experience to design, prepare and present counsellor training courses. I have followed this by presenting talks on mental health for professionals, including conference talks at Olympia with Safety in Beauty and also CPD events to qualified and placement volunteer counsellors within an hospice charity.I qualified as a person -centred counsellor but now integrate my wider studies in psychotherapy and counselling whilst remaining true to the proven person-centred way of working. Having trained in Rewind Therapy and Flash technique, I am practiced in successfully enabling individuals to overcome anxiety and trauma, including PTSD and c-PTSD, to regain their lives free from the situation they often feel locked in. My wider experience as a counselling training manager and my continued CPD, which includes ecotherapy, now enables me to bring an integrative approach to my counselling. I developed my counselling skills in separate roles working closely with St Barnabas Hospice, a Lincolnshire based charity receiving national recognition for its work, and gained wider counselling experience within an EAP provider role, alongside my small private counselling practice. This continued development is recognised by my NCPS Professionally Accredited status. I am now applying the sum of these experiences into the role of Therapy Service Manager with Buterfly Hospice.
