Alan Mapp Email and Phone Number
July 2020 I decided on a career change to become an electrician. At the age of 37 going from being a supervisor to an apprentice…. I was more than a little apprehensive but I am the sort of individual who believes you can do almost anything when you put your mind to it. After 20 years in a warehouse the same 4 walls it was safe to say I was moving out my comfort zone almost institutionalised as in Shawshank redemption where Red explains how the walls that kept them in became the walls that protected them. I began my journey, managing to find a work placement in September 2020 enabling me to gain hands on experience and the sort of exposure I needed to help me achieve my goal. It has been tough and challenging at times trying to juggle 12 hour shifts, 2 young children, rugby playing and coaching and obviously college work. After 3.5 years I’m almost there and have grown so much In confidence.I have achieved the following so far C & G 2393 part P full scope C & G 2382 18th edition amendment 2 2022C & G 2392 inspection & testing and initial verification C & G 2365 level 2 diploma electrical installationsC & G 2365 level 3 diploma electrical installations C & G 2391 level 3 inspection and testing I have 2 left BPEC solar PV And AM2 A bit about my past …I have 20 years experience in the steel industry, starting in logistics and administration I then spent 3-4 years learning all aspects of the service centre from loading/despatch and goods receipt to running large capacity band saws. From there I moved onto the tool room operating large milling/grinding and turning machines CNC and Manual. I was a supervisor of the tool room responsible for all aspects this from order planning, processes, health & safety, tool management and stocking, pricing, training of apprentices. I have maintenance experience on bandsaws and grinding machines. I am a hands on individual and can turn my hand to most tasks.I continue to gain more experience and exposure and get the most out of each day and improve myself on a daily basis.#know your worth#
