Managing 4 quarries, a 2-shift production line and 2-shift packaging operation, I lead a team of 6 Team Leaders with a total workforce of 66. My key achievements include :• Manage the procurement of raw materials from 4 operational quarries, resulting in resource stabilisation and a 40% reduction in raw material costs in a number of product lines.• Liaise with external authorities such as BSI/CICS, Local & County Council, Environment Agency, HSE etc. on issues associated with Legislative and Company Policies.• Manage capital projects including engineering works such as roofing, borehole drilling and wind turbines. I was also the CDM champion nominated to oversee the closure and demolition of 2 sites, an unfortunate result of the 2008 recession.• Working closely with the Sustainability Director, I managed the site Energy Efficiency Programme, including kiln car re-design resulting in an improved yield in excess of 6%, installation of a wind turbine, water treatment and recycling and compressed air projects.• Manage the efficient use of 2.5 million therms / annum (approx. £1.5 million) of gas used in the kiln / firing process, improving fuel efficiency by developing new methods to achieve a higher quality product whilst stabilising energy use.• Supervise and oversee the production process, reducing downtime and increasing OEE, utilising CI / TPM systems and tools.• Developed and launched an Intranet system giving shared access to an internal information database to communicate, manage, update and improve QA, H&S, Environmental and CI/TPM Systems.• Streamline / standardise the production process to significantly reduce working capital.
