Supporting Chief Controls Office and the business areas in designing, developing and managing the frameworks which support Senior Managers in delivering their accountabilities under the Individual Accountability Regime.

Improved the governance and accuracy of data held within the internal Group Risk & Controls system, through rigorous review and challenge of information, identification of system changes and policy & standard amendments, allowing accurate reporting to be provided for our regulators and stakeholders. Key member of the Barclays UK COVID-19 crisis management team, responsible for identifying, reviewing, and managing new and emerging risks because of the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring controls in place to monitor and mitigate risks.Key Achievements• Reduced control system user access by 56% thus improving both the quality of data and security of the system, helping to reduce risk.• Improved the accuracy of the data by providing additional education and educational resources to the remaining users, mandating and formatting key system fields and data cleanse.

Developed and implemented Global Technology Risk reporting, including compliance and regulatory, for consumption by the Technology Risk executive committee and Reporting Service Council meetings, allowing focused, informed, prioritised risk business decisions to be made. Within the reporting framework, the key risk indicators (KRIs) detailed the operational / business performance for key metrics against Group risk appetite. Metrics outside of appetite were identified, analysed, insights provided to the business and remedial action taken to bring back within appetite. Brought structured leadership to the team, ensuring effective colleague and team development and collaboration through ongoing supporting, mentoring and coaching.Key Achievements• Designed, developed, and implemented a Global Technology Risk dashboard taking data automatically from numerous data sources to give Senior Leaders a consistent, single, interactive view of Technology Risk across the group. • Saved over 1000 hours during reporting review by eliminating duplication and process wastage.

Provided enterprise operational support to a global technology department with an annual budget of £1.3bn and 9000 employees. Designed and implemented a reporting strategy and framework, including data / metric definitions, measures of success, and continuous reviews, to improve governance and consistency of MI reporting. Key Achievements• Implemented a successful right shoring model that produced an annual run saving of £150k. • Reviewed and redesigned the Monthly Enterprise Business Review (MBR), the key executive report used to assess the health of the Technology business and assist in making tactical and strategic decisions, improving production time, consistency, quality, control, and value. • Part of a team that raised over £70k for the CARE charity.

September 1989 – May 2008: Head of MI, Barclaycard, Liverpool, UKCreated MI for Barclaycard’s impairment portfolio (£680m per month) and operational MI reporting on the performance of the collections and recoveries colleagues (over 1k employees). The suite of reporting was produced and distributed automatically, to senior leaders via AimCall, Excel, and Outlook, helping them to make quick tactical decisions to achieve month / year end targets.Key Achievements• Developed and implemented a report scheduling framework using SAS to automatically process and deliver reports in the required format and by the service level without any manual intervention. This led to a saving of over 150 hours per month in production time.• Introduced a monthly performance reward scheme for all operational colleagues. This led to a huge increase in both monthly colleague productivity and collections recovery performance. April 1998 – May 1999: European Collections Manager, Barclaycard, Dublin, Ireland (Secondment)Developed and implemented the credit risk strategy & processes to support Barclaycard’s new and growing European credit card market. Developed, tested, and implemented a robust Collections platform to support the anticipated volumes generated by each stage of marketing activity and forecasted payment default.Key Achievements• Exceeded both key objectives on quality, budget, and timescales.• Created a multi-lingual team made up of diverse set of colleagues to ensure issues were resolved at first point of contact for the Western Europe market.
