Alan Murphy is a retired Police Inspector with a can do attitude who is outgoing, reliable, conscientious and a quick learner. He has previous experience in the travel industry, marketing, merchandising and restaurant business. Alan has over 27 years’ experience in the Metropolitan Police Service working 21 of those years as a uniformed officer working on front line duties. He has spent his time on Patrol teams as well as working on the Borough training unit, managing safer driving on the command and running Officer Safety training (Self defence), Safer Neighbourhood policing , Prevent Team , Intelligence unit. Recently completed a contract as Assessor in the Work Based Assessment process for the MPS, utilising his experience and skillset to assess supervisors and managers in their new roles, casting an objective and supportive overview on their day to day performance in their career development. Currently working for Hounslow Borough Council in the Community safety Unit as a training Coordinator for the Prevent strand of the Councils Contest strategy. Engaging with community groups, educational establishments and internal service providers to maximise Community Safety. Over the course of his service Alan has been awarded 7 commendations for bravery, investigative prowess and Leadership at all 3 ranks as well as his Long service and good conduct medal.Alan’s external interests mean you will regularly find him delivering tuition in Martial Arts in Staines and at various events across the Southeast. He is also involved in kayaking across the London and the South east areas working at Triathlon and swim events providing water safety support.
