With more than two decades of design and design leadership experience in the fields of automotive and product design, Alan’s expertise and bandwidth are extensive and rare. He has proven expertise in developing products and diverse vehicles for luxury through tier 3 markets. He has successfully created world-class, award-winning products and brand strategies in the areas of automotive, medical equipment, entertainment robotics for Disney and Universal Studios, computer hardware, and advanced products for DARPA’s arm of the Pentagon.Appointed Director for both Interior and Component Design Departments during a five-year foreign assignment in Shanghai, China, his global and cultural acuity make him uniquely skilled at creating highly functioning, diverse teams as well as building strong relationships of trust and effectiveness with cross-functional, global partners. He completed GM-sponsored executive training from Harvard University and Disney Executive Programs. Alan is highly proficient in studying data, simplifying core concepts, presenting to executive leadership, and achieving consensus.Alan has held several prominent roles at General Motors that have shaped his broad design understanding, strong business acumen, and ability to understand shifting trends. As Brand Manager for Buick and Cadillac, he developed strategy, investigated and drove advanced technologies into interior products and user experience. He sought out and structured internal and external partnerships, tested key hypotheses, and implemented far-reaching technologies and user interfaces, staying ahead of disruptive technologies and manufacturing developments. While Interior Design Manager of Cadillac, he was designated and successfully evaluated GM’s innovation organizational structures, identifying choke points and implementing more streamlined execution channels.Alan is a native of the U.S. state of Utah and a graduate of Brigham Young University.
