My responsibilities included: convening / chairing meetings, attending committee training, representing organisation with funders, officials and liaising with contractors in managing the completion of an innovative £100,000 youth bus conversion project.Background of project: Drumchapel youth project was an idea developed by local young people from the Drumchapel local community and supported by a local community development worker. The project idea was a collective response from local young people to tackle the lack of youth services meeting the needs of local young people between the ages of 12 – 18. The DYB project committee developed an urban programme grant application via the Scottish office, registered the group as a charity and designed an innovative mobile youth resource that could be shared throughout the 8 recognised neighbourhood area of the Drumchapel housing scheme.We were successful as local young people, all under 18 years old in securing £100,000 capital project to plan and design a mobile youth resource (double deck donor bus) of which involved myself and fellow committee members in every stage and aspect of achieving or goal. We launched the youth bus in 1992 and were proud to deliver such an innovative and high design specification project that would benefit local young people for many years including support from a team of local youth workers.
