Led executive positioning and media relations within Humana's HR, Innovation and Inclusion & Diversity segments. Work included raising the public profile of key leaders through blogs, speeches, public events, etc. Editor of www.humananews.com.Led Humana’s Signature Corporate Social Responsibility program, Team Up 4 Health (www.teamup4health.org), a multi-year effort to make good health contagious in Bell County, Ky. The community has an obesity rate of 35.9 percent, a diagnosed diabetes prevalence of 13.9 percent and a hypertension rate of 35.2 percent. Workstreams included:* Partnered with Microclinic International, a global public health and development nonprofit, to create a local system that empowers small groups of people to influence each other and their community in adopting healthy behaviors. Overall, 95% of TU4H participants improved their health: they lost weight, increased their physical activity and made positive changes to their eating habits* Facilitated the construction of three fitness parks and the establishment of a five-acre community garden* Executing media outreach and award applications (TU4H won two of the top four Landmarks of Excellence Awards in 2014 – for Public Service and Community Relations. The program was a finalist at the 2013 Global Business Community’s GBC Health Awards, and a finalist in the 2013 Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship Film Festival. TU4H has been featured in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Fast Co.Exist, The Huffington Post and The Health Care Blog.)Chaired a cross-functional committee of Humana associates in a yearlong effort to plan and execute the company’s 50th anniversary campaign, which won a national IABC Gold Quill award.
