Chief Engineer National Health Mission Area
CurrentAlan Ravitz is the Chief Engineer for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory's (APL) National Health Mission Area (NHMA). NHMA's mission is to revolutionize health through science and engineering in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine and the broader Johns Hopkins community. In pursuit of this mission, NHMA's portfolio of programs includes projects spanning the full continuum of human health and healthcare from the molecular level all the way up to the delivery of care. In the Chief Engineer role, he is responsible for defining NHMA's technical strategy for all health-related initiatives; coordination of APL activities with Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM); coordination of APL’s engagements with industry and foundation entities; development and management of NHMA's Technical Quality Assurance Program; guiding technical direction of key strategic projects including precision medicine analytics, development of novel sensor systems, and other initiatives in support of APL’s mission related to health.
