CurrentCelebrating his 28th anniversary with Chicago Legal Search in 2023, Alan serves as Executive Vice President. A 1986 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Alan received his J.D. in 1990 from the DePaul University College of Law, where he was on Law Review and Executive Editor of the DePaul Business Law Journal. Alan spent years as a litigation trial attorney with one of Chicago’s largest law firms. He has been quoted on issues pertaining to the legal search profession in numerous national and local publications. Alan has spoken before the Chicago Association of Legal Personnel, the Chicago Bar Association, law schools, and colleges nationally on legal recruiting matters. He has testified as an expert witness and consulted prominent law firms and corporate clients on attorney placement and career matters. Alan takes a personal approach to serving his candidates and clients. He is honored to have successfully placed some of Chicago’s most successful partners, government attorneys, and associates. Alan has a long history of passionate commitment to diversity hiring that is well-recognized in the industry. His op-ed addressing racial justice issues in legal employment was published in Crain's, and he has spoken to groups on issues of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Alan retired after eight years of school board service as a twice-elected member of the School Board in District 102 and a Governing Board Member of the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL). As an active supporter of Wisconsin Athletics, he also served multiple terms as a member of the University of Wisconsin Athletics Advisory Board. Alan and his wife, Holly, are the proud parents of two daughters, one in medical school with her Master’s in Reproductive Medicine from Northwestern University and her B.S., with Highest Honors, from the University of Michigan, and the other teaching 3rd grade, who recently graduated from UW-Madison with Distinction in Elementary Education.
