As a Qantas B737-800 First Officer, I'm responsible for assisting the captain during all phases of flight. Whilst pilot flying and pilot monitoring, I must ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to.Apart from my role as a pilot flying aeroplanes, I must be able to develop quick report with my Captain and in particular cabin crew who are vital to our operation. Communication and cohesion is key in establishing an effective relationship with my crew. In addition, a days work must progress safely, efficiently and effectively to ensure Qantas can continue as an airline for many decades to come. Being a domestic first officer is a wonderful career path that I thoroughly enjoy.

Flying the Metro 23 in fly in, fly out operations was fun, rewarding and challenging.Without an autopilot, pilots of the Metro became highly coordinated and skillful aviators. It was a perfect plane to develop crew resource management skills in the multi crew environment.19 passengers were solely the responsibility of the pilots as the aircraft was too small for cabin crew.I flew the Metro 23 in and out of major international airports as well as very hot and high altitude dirt strips, in both IMC and VMC weather conditions.The challenge of flying this aircraft always proved enjoyable and rewarding after a days work.
