Business, innovation and entrepreneurship was something that I have always been interested in, especially the challenge of developing something from a concept to a reality. I’ve been involved in various businesses since I was in college. During my time in Trinity, I set up a t-shirt printing business to supply the various college societies and sports clubs with t-shirts for events etc. I was also involved with an early stage internet based business, providing public internet access points before the advent of the smart phone.After college, I ran a successful family business in Dublin in the services sector. This is where I developed various business skills in practice, as with any family business, you must take on all the roles necessary for the day to day operations of the business from marketing to finance to HR.I also was involved in some property development during this time. In 2012 I started investing in solar projects in the UK, where I gained an initial understanding of the renewable energy sector in general, and the solar development market in particular.In 2016 I was the main consultant to WElink Energy plc. in their acquisition of the 221 MW Solara4 project in Portugal, at the time the largest unsubsidised renewable energy project in Europe which was completed and grid connected in 2021.In 2017 I formed Suggestion Power Lda. with 2 local partners whom I had worked with on the Solara4 project. The company was set up to to develop a large solar project of 160 MW, also in Portugal.In August 2020, we successfully participated in the Portuguese solar auctions for the connection rights for this project in partnership with EGP, the renewable arm of ENEL Group plc. Shortly after we sold our interest in the project to EGP. In 2019, I formed Zenith Profile Lda. with the same team for further project development. Currently we are developing another project in Portugal totalling in excess of 250 MW of energy. Presently I'm working on the development of this project, with the aim of bringing it to “Ready to Build” stage in the near future.I'm also looking at new opportunities in the renewable sectors, notably BESS integration systems and hybridisation opportunities with renewable energy projects both in our current project in Portugal and also in other projects across Europe.I’m always happy to connect and discuss the renewable energy sector and any opportunities that may present themselves.
