I’m currently chairperson of a Volunteer team (Medical & Emergency Response Team) providing Event Medical Services and Emergency/Incident Support.My role involves general management of the organisation and development of both services and volunteers.

Emergency Staff Nurse with experience working in all areas of the department including Triage, Resus and Plastering.With an interest in pre-hospital care I am a member of the Pre-hospital Immediate Care Team (PICT) available as a nurse responder to major incidents.

Providing patient centred nursing care in the Raigmore Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

I served as a volunteer for over 20 years operating within event first aid and emergency response, based in Northern Scotland but working across the UK.Working within the British Red Cross I became a trainer developing volunteers in First Aid, Ambulance Support and Emergency Response. I regularly worked with Category 1 & 2 responders at public events and significant incidents - generally related to adverse weather (Flooding, Power outages, and Snow). As part of my roles I had training in First Aid and Ambulance Support, Major Incident Management, Swiftwater Rescue, Moving and Handling Communications and Volunteer management.

Operational manager for Central Highland Area running services including Emergency Response, Event First Aid, Tele-care and Wheelchair Loan.I had management responsibility for 50 volunteers across the central highlands. This involved everything from recruitment, operational deployments and volunteer development.Working with other agencies and clients was a significant part of my role as manager along with budget management and service development. We were the first Red Cross area in the UK to provide a 24Hr call-out service for the Tele-care service supporting the vulnerable in their own homes.

Responsibility for facilities management and health and safety within a portfolio of around 100 properties including offices, residential care, leisure and education.Whilst in this role I developed a tracking system to manage audit results and work required/outstanding. This system was then adopted by other facilities teams leading to its use across all council facilities.
