I started our business up in 1976 in a 300 square foot shop along with my wife Helene. We started off by lettering bowling shirts for the bowling centers and pro shops in St. Louis. I was fortunate enough to be in this fledgling business when the first major breakthrough in the garment printing business occurred. This was the invention of a new ink that could be heat cured when it was applied wet and would adhere to the garment as well as to itself. You may read about my start-up years on my blog at AlanSpetner.comIn 1999, we were one of the first businesses to become commerce-enabled on the Internet as we put up BowlingShirt.com and Cruisinusa.com We sell retro styled bowling shirt as well as Fun Fads and Fashions from the 1950's era. Our business grew steadily over the next 12 years. In 2012 we purchased the assets of Victoria Printed Products here in St. Louis and now run a full scale screen printing operation. We continue to import shirts from Honduras and China which are sewn with our label and to our specifications.We have 3 Automatic presses as well as 6 hand presses and have the capacity to print 8000 to 10000 pieces per day. We have our own art department and have 2 staff members dedicated their expertise in all of the popular graphics programs including Freehand, Illustrator and Photoshop.We also print small orders of all types of apparel from 1 to 500 pieces for reunions, company outings, groups and organizations.In addition we run a full service embroidery department. Our staff of 21 can handle just about any printed apparel order and the average time at our business for our employees is over 7 years.Currently, I am semi-retired at 66 years old , Helene is 63 and handles much of our outside sales and is generally in the office, and our son Rob Spetner has taken the helm of the business.
