Following a restructure my role developed, and I was promoted to head of the desktop and server team, with a new team to manage. Core objective of this role is to manage the server infrastructure for Redrow. This busy, exciting role encompasses:- Project managing the introductions of new and updated systems- Implementing new SQL 2012 enterprise cluster running on Windows 2012- Expanding the SAN infrastructure whilst upgrading to the new version- Introduction of new VSphere 5 servers- Collation of Board reports, forecasts and analysis- Recruiting, appraising and managing team

Install and maintain SAN (Netapp initially, now HP), setup and upgrade VMware servers, project manage the replacement of existing regional servers with ESXI servers running Windows 2008 and HP VSA to allow synchronizing of data with HQ. These servers are then managed through VCenter with alerts setup to manage hardware and e-mail the support team with any system failures.Setup regional and local backup jobs, setup tape library for use with the Netapp and HP SAN.Recently installed and setup a HP p4000\p4500 SAN along with the DR environment, integrated the SAN with VMware and migrated all guests from the Netapp SAN to the HP. I’ve upgraded active directory environment from Windows 2000 to 2003 and soon to be 2008 native.Other tasks include, deploying hardware / software via Altiris, coordinating the team rota and providing general IT support.

In this role I was part of a team doing second and third line support, PC and server builds, regional office visits to audit and replace PCs.

My main achievement in this position was rolling out centrally managed IT systems to all Cheshire primary schools, which required visiting all schools and setting up links to head office for e-mail and internet access. Other tasks included Helpdesk support, PC builds and distribution.

During this role I was part of a team that coordinated the rollout of MS Exchange throughout the organisation, and set up servers and networks at each constabulary as part of a full revamp of the IT infrastructure.

Part of a college placement, this role involved building and maintaining PCs at Head Office, managing IT stock, and repairing faulty PCs (hardware).
