I'm a very experienced non-profit technology leader, and my recent work has focused on effective security and the importance of building policies and systems that fit the threat landscape - and at the same time are understandable to and operable by the people who have to use them. This ties into a long-standing interest in the importance of training and human factors in the success of our technology projects. It's not enough to operate in a technological vacuum, no matter how effectively; we have to be sure the projects we undertake are ones that will improve the work lives of the people we serve, as well as improving the organization's effectiveness. At the same time, I've never lost my taste for operational detail, and I can geek out with the best of them over the latest Azure capabilities, a new VPN technology, or a particularly tasty laptop. I haven't seen everything under the sun when it comes to infrastructure, operating systems and databases, but I've seen an awful lot, and really enjoy fitting it all together.
