Sandy Knoll Works (formerly Studio 12) is focused on creating WOW by blending puddles of color with art and technology. Sandy Knoll Works started as a mother and son team combining Doris Weiner’s creative vision and Alan Weiner’s technical vision. The language elements invented that create the art have been evolving for over 30 years. Responsibilities include the addition of multiple technologies, coordinating working with multiple vendors for fabrication, shipping and installation. Technologies responsible for include: neon, reflective techniques, LED based technologies, mechanical design and fabrication issues.Sandy Knoll Works was created as a platform for building and showing the art of Doris Weiner. The building involves creating the language technologies and the showing involves handling shipping, logistics and coordinating vendors.Some of our recent language elements (living glass held by sculpted portals and the ColorfulThunder iPad/iPhone app) show how we combine technology and art.

CVS pioneered retail pharmacy and has expanded to cover other pharmacy related health care business contexts such as PBM which handles the pharmacy IT arm for many company health plans. The mobile assets sits on top of these multiple blue chip assets.My main role was converting the blue chip project based mobile development architecture and dev process to current project based architectures and techniques. At CVS I have been addressing the gap between mobile product development and blue chip IT project development and bringing in that mobile device perspective in place of the mobile Web paradigm.Developed first native iOS architecture for the home page and style guide implementation.Created architecture for modular based solution and drove pods/gradle solution with a touch of unit test (toward CI).Architected solutions for changing the retail pharmacy experience by creating an evolving Connection solution between customer phone and register. This allowed us to connect to multiple back ends and orchestrate powerful solutions for the multiple business contexts.First Connection solution solved pharmacy related retail issues speeding up the pickup process. This required a solution that leveraged multiple back ends while focusing on PHI/PII security issues. Currently this runs over 30k transactions a day.Second Connection solution added a payment solution by adding 2 way communication while keeping all systems PCI compliant (mostly by only allowing 1 system to have PCI and the mobile device).SCRUM/ AGILE process evangelist - Pushing these evolution of first within our business unit (Mobile IT) then out to the other business groups driving adoption of relevant agile processes (using RTC as a platform to implement these solutions).

Control4 creates total home control system (lights, heat, windows, sprinklers, music, video, etc) that uses a variety of navigators to control them. The iPad/iPhone controller for Control4 was originally developed by control UI. ControlUI was purchased by Control4 in Nov 2010.- Responsible for converting the IP from controlUI to control4 (both in code and process) and mentoring engineers to support the MyHome iPhone and iPad apps- Added unit test to the iOS product development- Helped implement SCRUM- Responsible for full life cycle support for the iOS platform version of Control4’s navigator. Creating the enhancements (handling the iPod, broadcast stations, etc) and fixing bugs (it is a legacy product).- Added the new lighting and scene editing support

ControlUI creates the iPad/iPhone controller for Control4. Control4 creates a whole house control system targeted at the consumers. Aduci (run by the same principals) created iPhone/iPad applications that leverage api based technologies.- Architected and implemented iComm, an iPad/iPhone universal intercom application that leverages the game kit for the audio/available connections between the devices. The application is based on places so as the user moves between location they can select the group of users within that place. The application features both calling other users as well as broadcasting audio to all users.- Responsible for support and modifying the Control 4 applications to bring them to the next version level.

New Potato is known in the embedded application worlds as a company who can bring a product from the back on an envelope to the shelves of Best Buy in less than 6 months. Responsible for architecting and implementing embedded solutions for a variety of industries, specializing in extremely low power applications and RF communications. Principal responsibility is the software architecting and development of products.• Created Odometer type meter that runs off of a sealed battery for 4 years. The meter has multiple measurement modes controlled by a magnetic wand since the meter is sealed in a gas environment.• Multiple RF based projects used to for both control and measurement applications.• Created RF based remote control MP3 speaker system that supports browsing and control of the MP3 player through the remote. The remote (1.5” x 3”) works in over 9 languages including the iconic based languages and sported a 1” x 1.5” interface that showed the song lists and album art.

Founded and spearheaded a pioneering technology startup focused on developing an image-based system that enabled vendors across industries to market their products and manage digital presences.Created one of the first commercial art internet ecosystems, facilitating a digital marketplace for artists and galleries, which significantly enhanced visibility and sales.Secured funding and managed the company through the initial stages of the internet bubble, adapting business models and technology in response to evolving market conditions.Oversaw the development and deployment of web-based platforms, which included comprehensive website creation for vendors to sustain operations post-company closure in 2000.Implemented strategic partnerships and led a team that introduced innovative digital marketing tools, setting industry standards in online art commerce.

Responsible for design, development, and support of ultrasonic nondestructive test instruments. Advanced business processes for developing software and evolving ultrasonic testing technology. Project manager leading local and world-wide teams of engineers for product development.

Conceptual development of a Threaded Interpretive Language (TIL) programming environment. Created the language using C on an IBM PC/XT. Connected the environment to other utilities using computer generated batch files resulting in an interactive C programming language. Developed a modified TIL environment in Pascal on the Lisa II for the Macintosh.

Conducted brainstorming sessions for game concept development. Created game software on the Kontron2300 development system. Games were designed for 6502 based Atari 2600 and Atari 800. Software was written in assembly language.Developed a program for the Atari 2600 VCS to demonstrate an original video game concept called TREDS. Using a perspective transformation, mythical objects were mapped onto the screen in a three dimensional manner. This included the creation of a compressed scientific notation package that was used in the development of the three-dimensional graphics package. The program simulated a physical system while generating video and servicing game I/O in real time.
