CurrentFounded in 1948, The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) was the first federation to support the interests of the recycling industry on an international scale. Today, BIR represents over 760 member companies from the private sector and 36 national associations in more than 70 countries. Together, these members form the largest international recycling federation.As General Delegate of the Textiles Division I have a number of official roles and responsibilities including:• Having a full understanding of the Statutes, By-Laws, Internal Rules, Code of Conduct and Arbitration Rules of the BIR,• Working with the Director General of the BIR and Chairman of the By-laws Committee to interpret the workings of the Organisation.• Having responsibility for working with the Textiles Division President to operate the Division in accordance with the rules of the BIR.• Providing guidance to new Division Presidents, Vice-Presidents and Board Members to ensure that they adhere to the BIR rules and regulations.• Informing the BIR Director General of any Division actions or rule changes that have been agreed by the Division's board members in a prompt manner.• Ensuring that they can be communicated by the Director General at all times.• Having to attend all meetings concerning environmental matters that take place during BIR congress meetings throughout the world.• Informing the Textiles Division members of all environmental matters that concern the textile recycling industry.• Ensuring that they are in communication with the BIR Environmental Director on a regular basis.
