Alan Winkel's current position is with the DXC Network Engineering Group. As an Architect and Engineer, he is responsible for consulting, designing and configuring communications network systems within Local Area Networks (LAN), and Campus Area Networks (CAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Data Centers. The following summarizes the activities included in the infrastructure design portion of Alan Winkel’s role.• Establish customer networking requirements and evaluate current environments.• Design appropriate topology based on current networking standards.• Select the required networking components• Include cabling to meet all applicable standards, and termination products.• Electronics to support all required protocols and performance needs.• Create a package including design drawings and supporting written documentation.• Create Engineering Work Orders with detailed installation instructions with router and switch configurations.• Manage installation of the designed system to ensure quality and performance. Perform troubleshooting when required.These functions have been successfully completed at many manufacturing and office and data center facilities for global enterprises such as AT&T, DXC, RTX, UTC, HPE, GM, Delphi, Allison, Symantec and Thyssen Steel.
