This role manages the Ecological Services department at the Lake County Health Department. This includes a variety ecological programs such as: -Overseeing the water quality monitoring program that provides technical expertise essential to the management and protection of Lake County's surface waters. -Coordinate the vector surveillance program which oversees monitoring of mosquito and ticks for vector borne pathogens such as West Nile Virus and Lyme disease-Oversee pool inspections for licensed swimming facilities in Lake County.-Collaborate with state agencies, and participate in committees and workgroups and more on water quality issues impacting Lake County and Illinois.COVID related job duties:During the COVID-19 pandemic, health department employees were tasked with assisting in COVID-19 related work. I assisted by being a site manager at mass vaccination clinics.

This role provides technical expertise essential to the management and protection of Lake County's surface waters. This includes field investigations and office activities related to conducting limnological or surface water surveys and the subsequent analysis of water quality data. The role also includes coordinating watershed education efforts such as coordinating volunteer lake monitoring program and communication newsletters.

Cannon River Watershed Partnership is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to engage people in protecting and improving the water quality and natural systems of the Cannon River watershed.As Program Assistant, I have-Monitored two long-term sites along the Cannon River as part of the MPCA's Watershed Pollutant Load Monitoring (WPLMN) program-Led stream habitat assessments based on the MPCA Stream Habitat Assessment Protocol-Coordinated the "Get it out of the Gutter" grant to promote awareness of urban stormwater issues and help residents take action to prevent stormwater pollution.-Use of GIS to create maps and collect information such as landowner access-Implemented educational and outreach events including: youth activity days at farmers markets and in-classroom watershed activities.-Use of Fundraiser to track membership donations

-Teaching assistant for the courses: Earth and It's Environment (introductory Geology course) and Hydrogeology (upper level undergraduate course)-Lectured on various geology concepts in a laboratory setting providing background information necessary to complete assignments-prepared, facilitated, graded, and maintained records of all assignments, quizzes, and exams throughout the semester

-Monitored lakes, streams, beaches and stormwater sites using grab samples and isco autosamplers-Conducted macrophyte surveys on Minneapolis lakes.-Well level and lake level monitoring

Assessed ravine ecosystems along Lake Michigan for bank stability and bank erosion hazards Use of GPS and GIS to map locations of high stressed areas, log jams, and outflow structures

Watershed Stewards Project (WSP) is an Americorps program where members serve in coastal watersheds throughout California and support the WSP mission to conserve, restore and enhance anadromous watersheds for future generations. Each Americorps member is placed at host site. I was stationed at Redwood Sciences Laboratory which is a research station of the United States Forest Service.As a Watershed Stewards Project Member at Redwood Sciences Lab I:-Conducted field work monitoring the effects of logging an experimental watershed by mapping headcut location and physical characteristics.-Measured locations and properties of large woody debris (LWD).-Performed laboratory work processing suspended sediment loads-Conducted outreach and education programs about salmonids and local watershed ecology in elementary schools by teaching a "real science curriculum".

Conducted educational programs and events regarding threatened shorebird species and dune ecosystems.

Evaluated streams, reservoirs, and lakes throughout western Wyoming for biological, chemical, and physical assessments including macroinvertebrate sampling, periphyton sampling, channel surveying, and water quality testing.
