Alana obtained her degree in Medical Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy from the University of Manitoba in 1996. After graduation, Alana began her career in orthopedics and specifically working closely with orthopedic surgeons. Shortly after moving to Calgary in 1999, she attained her certification to practice anatomical acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. In 2002, Alana began to pursue a further specialization of her passion for women's health. She has completed advanced training throughout Canada and the US. She has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy and obstetrics through the American Physical Therapy Association. Alana completed a doctorate of physical therapy in 2021.Alana is proud to be a highly sought-after physiotherapist in Calgary certified to treat pelvic health disorders ranging from fecal and urinary incontinence, painful intercourse (dyspareunia), pre-and postnatal education and treatment, prolapse, and other types of pelvic pain.She is also a certified practitioner of Rost therapy, specifically aimed at pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain. Alana works in close alliance with many disciplines including; Urogynecological surgeons, family physicians, nurse practitioners, chiropractic and other maternity care providers. She has extended experience in pre-and post-operative treatment for gynecological and surgical interventions. Alana particularly has a keen interest in the promotion of women's health and education regarding prevention of common pathology. She is involved in the advanced training of physiotherapy colleagues with Pelvic Health Solutions as well as Physiotherapy Uro-Sante. Alana and has presented to numerous groups of physicians, chiropractors, personal trainers, and mothers groups to share her passion for the education of under recognized women's health concerns.Alana is enthusiastic about her ability to work with and educate a wide variety of women while empowering them to reach their goals and maximum potential.
