Managed the setup and oversaw day-to-day lab operations of a research laboratory for a newly appointed faculty researcher, ensuring safety, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. Developed and optimized protocols for Plasmodium falciparum and Toxoplasma gondii in vitro cultures, and enhanced research accuracy and efficiency by designing a flow cytometry protocol for parasitemia determination. Trained lab members on lab safety and provided research support to a team of 7 researchers.

Performed qPCR diagnostic testing for COVID-19 in a high-throughput clinical laboratory. Boosted daily testing capacity from 2,000 to 5,000 samples with same-day patient results, by optimizing lab organization and instrument usage, eliminating bottlenecking. Utilized LIMS to track, update, and report patient results; adhered to SOPs and GxPs in alignment with CAP-accreditation and CLIA BSL2 standards. Ran diagnostic testing on malfunctioning equipment, troubleshot errors, and facilitated repairs with external engineers. Conducted routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance and calibration of automated instruments and labware.

Set up the inventory systems for a high-throughput clinical lab. Navigated pandemic-induced supply chain challenges and prevented workflow disruptions by proactively planning and developing additional storage locations, ensuring a steady 3-month supply of essential materials. Tracked the consumption of supplies, forecasted needs, and coordinated with suppliers to ensure supply fulfillment. Worked closely with the Vice Provost and facilities to establish new storage locations. Handled quotations, purchase orders, and contracts with sales representatives and finance. Led the development of a customized inventory management system in collaboration with software engineers

Played a pivotal role in the inception and advancement of a CLIA laboratory, contributing to the physical layout, equipment installation, workflows, validation, SOPs, LIMs, and inventory management. Established working relationships with engineers, sales representatives, and offices and departments at Princeton University. Received, documented, and decontaminated patient samples to begin the workflow. Was quickly promoted to perform diagnostic testing stages of the workflow and to continue all inventory management.

Supported graduate students' food microbiology research projects producing publishable results. Performed microbiology laboratory skills such as aseptic technique, preparing media, inoculation, serial dilutions, microbiological culture, gel electrophoresis, and PCR. While performing experiments, utilized laboratory instruments such as PCR thermocycler, autoclave, micropipette, hot plate, analytical balance, pH meter, water bath, and incubator. Adhered to BSL2 lab safety procedures and safely disposed of biohazardous and chemical waste. Trained new research assistants on lab skills and BSL2 safety.
