alanaladsonart.comI move seamlessly between worlds.Art and education are two worlds that can be blended together or starkly separated. I am a part of both and they are separate and yet seamlessly blended. They have long been the fuel for my current career path. I'm an educator and an artist. Both of these are parts of the complete package. I graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor's in psychology, then moved on to be an AmeriCorps volunteer at City Year in Brooklyn, NY. I was teaching 3rd-5th graders in Brooklyn. I then landed at Yale Peabody Museum teaching the polar opposite of third graders: high schoolers. Now, I am blending my education background & artistic bend into two positions at Music Haven in New Haven, CT as their Communications Manager and their College and Career Pathways Manager.As for artistry, I have my own small business. I create logos, illustrations, and paintings for clients as well as vend at different events. Additionally, I design and sell pins, prints, stickers and clothing. Through my art business I was able to attend popular events like CURLFEST and speak at SXSW. I've also taught painting and drawing classes through the New Haven Public Library. Because of my love of creating, I was able to take the lead and design three of our student exhibits that were displayed at Yale Peabody Museum.In doing all of this, I have amassed invaluable experience and have become both a better artist and educator throughout my years of working, teaching, and running my small business. In the near future, I hope to hone my teaching and art abilities and use them to their fullest extent.
