As the Executive Assistant to the Founder and CEO, I was the key support person for a demanding, dynamic, and influential global eyewear brand. From weekly project meetings, to establishing annual objectives, to orchestrating events, I was involved in all the most important processes in the company. Good management skills were an essential condition for success in this position as I served as the liaison between the company’s C-level, VP level, and Director level stakeholders. KREWE is a company that succeeds or flounders by the calendar and it was my duty to maintain organization and communicate changes accordingly.

As EA at TS, I had the unique opportunity to serve in a position with each day different; juggling multiple tasks within various departments as effortlessly as possible. What I did: Served as an invaluable asset to the CEO with office tasks/projects such as: checking emails & communications on his behalf, managing & scheduling across multiple calendars, processing approved wire transfers & signing checks, completing expense reports for travel & reporting PTO, and keeping him focused on tasks of the day-week-month & beyond. Organized & helped to execute monthly Company & quarterly Board of Directors Meetings. Coordinated travel for upper level management and remote colleagues. Orchestrated/set-up libations & celebrations for various departments. Organized and maintained office comforts for employees such as the break room & supply closet. What I learned: How to keep a top executive’s world spinning in the correct direction through being meticulously organized, maintaining an open & clear line of communication, remaining healthfully available & flexible, kept my cool during stressful periods of high-level multitasking, anticipated needs, and maintained a cheerful & humble demeanor.
Human Resources Assistant
What I did: Fully supported the Vice President of HR, the HR Manager, and the HR department. Closely worked with the VPHR on scheduling, department goals & objectives, and project support. Maintained calendar for HR team and ensured that complete information was available for all activities. Assisted in arrangements for meetings & conferences; attended meetings when necessary. Managed HR department correspondence & periodic reports. Assisted the VPHR with travel arrangements & expense reports. Coordinated office functions with other departments & satellite offices. Responsible for the accurate & efficient processing of documentation for vessel personnel. Input and processing of all new hires, current & terminated employees in HRIS system, and maintenance of all electronic and hard copy files. Distributed forms, assembled information booklets, administered pre-employment reporting & background checks, and setup pre-employment testing/assessment. Served as coordinator for on-site continuing education programs. What I learned: The struggles & triumphs of transitioning from mostly paper-based to electronic-focused record keeping & communication. Team creation and implementation of education & wellness programs. Staying proactive of updated government mandated maritime requirements. Remaining on top (literally!) of the paperwork associated with 100’s of personnel.

To thicken my skin & allow the water roll off my feathers – like a duck! Finally, that a college graduate’s first job is a learning experience filled with criticism, lessons often learned the “hard way,” and, if you’re fortunate, an encouraging & forgiving team that helps to enrich you with valuable lessons that will afford you building blocks to enhance your many careers.
