I love collecting debts by the mental interaction with the Client who is unwilling or unable to pay.I commence the process 3 days after the end of the month with a reminder email.This is business to business .I then follow up 3 days after with a reminder phone call to get the promise to pay.I then follow up 3 days later with a reminder email regarding the broken promise to pay.Three days after another phone call to discuss why the debt is still overdue.I have been doing this a long time ,so happy to hear stories......but the crux is at least a promise to pay Sometimes it is not the money but a reconciling item which needs clarity.A Credit may have to be issued or exchange of wrongly delivered stock,or it may be incorrect sizing. I will get the invoice paid less the incorrect charge.I email,ring and try other ways of contacting the decision maker ,not necessarily accounts payable.I also have a unique but provable credit application which has been tried and tested in VCAT.The essence of it binds the directors to allow a caveat put on their home in case of default. This of course is the very last resort.A stop supply report can also be issued 10 days after the debt is overdue to alert all staff of the non payment of the outstanding and overdue invoices.I provide a weekly excel spreadsheet of client by amount promised and the reason why the dent can't/won't be paid.I am firm but friendly and I get the job done by building rapport and empathy with the stakeholders in your debt;reception,accounts and purchasing..
