Responsibilities included overseeing the operations of a 504 bed academic medical center, a children’s hospital, a 204 bed community hospital, a 74 bed psychiatric hospital, and the planning and construction of two community hospitals in Cumberland and Lancaster counties. Penn State Health employed approximately 15,000 employees with an operating budget of 2.5 billion. The construction of two community hospitals was a key part of a comprehensive buildout of physician practices, ambulatory facilities and hospitals to ensure the retention and growth of inpatient and outpatient services in an increasingly competitive marketplace with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s acquisition of Lancaster General Health and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s acquisition of the Pinnacle Health System.

For the 2017 Vizient quality and safety ranking, HMC achieved a ranking of 5 out of 104 academic medical centers. HMC's operating margin was consistently 12-13% before an academic support payment of approximately $70 million dollars.

Responsible for the operations of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals (TJUH) including the center city academic medical center, 205 bed Methodist Hospital Division, 75 bed Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience and 10 bed Ford Road's Ambulatory Surgical Campus.

Coordinated primary care and specialty physician recruitment efforts. President of the Management Services Organization which served 45 primary care physicians.
